Week 1 - SU II V's Dundee

This week saw an inconsistent performance through a 5 set match, against a
side that although finished above us in the league last year, should have
been dispatched in a 3 or 4 sets.
For the second week in a row Su were unable to field their six first choice
players. With Papa G unavailable for the resheduled match time, Kevin 'Supersub'
Curran had to take setting duties and though understandably rusty to start
with, he came onto a game through the first two sets.
The final 2-3 scoreline reflected a match that saw Su fail to beat the
living daylights out of the sets supplied to them and consequently
throughout the final 4 sets played continuance after continuance. If things
are to improve SU II have to defend better, hunt every ball, work the system
and swing away to provide the kills.
We will have to
wait to see whether this wake up call is enough to stimulate better future
performances.
