Su II
match report 27th september 08. The last pre season warm up game of the year was met with after a number of forced team changes. Out through injury, michael "boom boom" mcconville and dave "sicknote" cormie and with andrew "mad dog" mcgreggor unavailable on the day, Su II had to field an adapted but strong side. 1st string setter greg "papa g" cockburn was supported by his passing unit of bobby "bobby b" jackson and colin "fabrigas" hamilton. In on the outside for the first time came dave "disco" martin which left Bob "funtime" reid and cristophe "Terminator 2" de lattre through the middle. The 3-0 victory for Su II was a small but important step on the route to harmonising this years targets of a winning attitude combined with dominant and competent performances. The first set and a half was pretty standard with some thunderball hitting from fabrigas and some solid blocking through the middle. Though a little wobble in the passing in the middle of the second set gave NUVOC II some hope, but it was quickly thwarted with some 3 point passing and quick sets from papa g, rendering the their block mostly innefectual. The third set was characterised by substitutions comming in to assist as offsetter, colin "gangster" sangster and setting in anger, 1st year setter, umar "umy" ansar relieved papa g for a while, polishing off the final set with a pinpoint No5 pass to disco who finnished the set with a barnstormer of a hit at 2. Roll on this years season!
