| Su Ragazzi Ladies vs Lenzie |
| Schelde National League 1 |
|
Saturday the 4th of October saw Su Ragazzi volleyball club hosting their first home match of the new season. Saturday saw the Suettes come together for the first time after winning the league last season……the pressure was on. It was Klaudia Wieczorek’s first match for the club and filling Lynne Beatties power hitter slot. Klaudia stepped up to the mark and scored a number of impressive power hits. The Suettes were simply too powerful for Lenzie in the opening set through a variation of unstoppable first tempo plays from Claire and Lindsay resulting in a first set score of 25-7!!! After training well all week Amanda McReady made sure she was one of the main hitters throughout the match and came up with some fantastic power and tactical winners. Through a combination of excellent passing from Sandra Grubb and stable setting from Lynn Edwards, the above mentioned players enabled the Suettes to win the second set with ease. In the third set, ‘baby setter’ Emma Clarkson and off setter Susan Barr stepped onto court. Emma played with confidence by regularly setting first tempo. Susan passed and defended the floor with grit and determination. Despite Lenzie putting up a fight, the experience and drive of the Suettes was simply too much for them. From the match it was evident that all the hard work from pre season training had paid off as the Suettes played as a tight and competent unit on court The Suettes won their first game of the season with an impressive 3-0 victory. Well done girls!!! Let’s repeat the same performance next week!!
