Ragazzi fell to their 1st
defeat of the season to city rivals Glasgow Mets losing the match 3-0. The
only quantum of solace for Ragazzi is that they meet Mets again next weekend
in the top teams cup so have an opportunity to avenge this defeat. Ragazzi
started the stronger and went into the 1st timeout ahead. Cheered
on by the Pom Pom girls Ragazzi lost their way in the middle of the set
after a couple of service errors and Mets upped their service weight to put
Su’s passing unit under pressure . Ragazzi lost this set and fell behind in
the second with the block unable to stop McLeod and Hendry on the outside.
Ragazzi came back into the set on the back of strong serving from Haddow and
Galloway. But an ankle injury to Su’s Gordon McGillvray disrupted the
momentum and Mets went onto take the set.
The 3rd set started well for Su leading
16-12 at the timeout but tough serving swung the momentum to Mets and they
went onto win the set 25-23. Steven Todd spoke afterwards “I am disappointed
; we need to improve ahead of next week but this is maybe the reality check
we needed at this stage of the season – there is lots of bits and pieces for
us to work on this week in practice”
