A weakened Ragazzi side took to the court against
Fife on Saturday, but still managed a straight sets victory. Dimitris
Kozikopolous was still injured and Captain Ally Galloway was unavailable.
This left a skeleton team to face Team Fife. Cristophe De Lattre called up
from the second team to fill the empty middle blocker position.
After a week of some very hard work at training, The team were
focused ready to primed for the match for the match ahead. The first set was
very one sided. Some very good serving and hitting saw Ragazzi win 25 – 13.
The most fantastic stat of the set was that they had a 100% side out ratio.
(Fife had 13 serves and Ragazzi went Pass-Set-Kill 13 times)
The second set was different story. The team went into auto pilot and
focus was lost momentarily in the set. Fife went into the second Technical
time-out 16-14 up. After a quick side out. De Lattre stepped up to the
service line and delivered four bombs to take Ragazzi into the lead. The
team never looked backed, winning the set comfortably 25-18.
In the last set, Fife rallied well. They threw all they had and the
Glasgow side to try to salvage something from the day. Excellent blocking
from O’Neil and awesome defence from the whole team, made it almost
impossible for the opposition to hit the floor. On a few occasions, Fife
started to celebrate too soon and were amazed that the rally was still
continuing, Ragazzi won the set 25-20 and recorded another 3-0 victory.
The home side had delivered what they had practiced in training and
Coach Dowens said “This was the best performance fro the team this season”
