King crowns good season with Scotland call up
New Scotland coach Simon Loftus announced his first squad last weekend for the January trip to Luxembourg to participate in the Novotel cup. In the squad was a 1st call up for Ragazzi middle blocker Alasdair King who has impressed the coaches with his performances at practice sessions this years so much so no other middle blockers could get on court during practice.
The Luxembourg tournament features Latvia; Austria; Luxembourg and Scotland and takes place from the 8th to 10th of January. This event is a key part in coach Loftus` preparation for the European Championship qualifier in Andorra in late May 2010.
`I was hopeful I might get the nod but still surprised when I got the email from Simon but I am really looking forward to the Luxembourg tournament especially since they play Right Said Fred music if you win, but in all seriousness it will be a big step up for me and I will just go there and continue to work hard on my game. We have a 3 day training camp between Christmas and New Year which will help prepare us for the trip`
Other Ragazzi players included in the squad were Alistair Galloway, Brian O`Neill and Steven Todd unfortunate to miss out was Colin Hamilton with Johnny Herley being unavailable due to his work commitments.
